Terms of use

Effective 5 November 2026

Zig is made by Niels Brink, trading as Lukie Labs, a private developer in Sweden. Questions: [email protected].

In short

  • Zig is a word-puzzle game. The daily puzzle and the included puzzle books are free.
  • Zig+ is a subscription that renews automatically. You manage and cancel it in the App Store or Google Play.
  • Puzzle books you buy separately stay yours. You can restore them on a new device.
  • Play fair on the leaderboard. We may hide suspicious results and remove offensive names.
  • Swedish law applies.

About these terms

These terms apply when you use Zig. By using the app, you agree to them. If you buy something through the App Store, Apple’s standard licence agreement (Licensed Application End User License Agreement) also applies. Purchases are also subject to the terms of the App Store or Google Play.

How we handle your data is explained in our privacy policy.

What Zig is

Zig is a word-puzzle game for iOS and Android. You can play without an account. If you sign in with Game Center or Google Play Games, you can also take part in the daily leaderboard, keep streaks and sync your progress across devices.

Zig+

  • Zig+ is an auto-renewing subscription. Apple or Google bills it to your store account.
  • Without Zig+ the game is free and shows an ad between some puzzles; with Zig+ there are no ads.
  • The price and the subscription period are shown in the app before you buy.
  • The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You cancel in your store’s subscription settings. Removing the app does not cancel the subscription.
  • After cancelling, you keep Zig+ until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own rules. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.

Single puzzle books

Puzzle books you buy separately are one-off purchases. They stay available to you. On a new device, or after reinstalling the app, use “Restore purchases” in the app. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google.

The leaderboard

The daily leaderboard should be fun for everyone, so:

  • Play fair. Don’t use tools, bots or tricks to get a better time.
  • Your time is measured by our server, not by your device.
  • Results with unrealistic times are flagged. We may hide flagged results.
  • Your display name comes from Game Center or Google Play Games and is shown publicly. We may remove or hide display names that are offensive.

Content and availability

Zig and its puzzles are provided “as is”. We do our best to make the puzzles and clues correct and the app reliable, but we can’t promise that the app is always available, error-free or unchanged. We may change, pause or stop parts of the app.

Zig, its puzzles and its design belong to Niels Brink or are used with permission. You may play them for personal use. Don’t copy, sell or redistribute them.

Liability

We are not liable for damage caused by using Zig, as far as Swedish law allows. This does not limit any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.

Applicable law

Swedish law applies to these terms. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of that country.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Changes are announced in the app or on this page, together with a new effective date. If you keep using Zig after a change, the new terms apply.
